Introduction to the Book
Introduction
Do you ever find yourself asking why Britney, Lindsey, and others are so crazy? Why are those who have the most going for them acting so destructive? Is traditional rehabilitation becoming a new age joke? While you are shaking your head, ask yourself, why am I so lucky? How did I beat the odds? But the real question is, what separates you from them; is it a moral compass?
There is an old saying that goes, "Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” That's what I have set out to do with, "The Struggle to Fall in Love with Myself". The mission of this novel is to provide instruction on the following: 1. How to fish for God, 2. How to establish self respect and dignity, and 3. How to achieve inner peace and happiness. "The Struggle to Fall in Love with Myself" is a true story of a young girl who was smart, talented, and God fearing. She was a prominent singer, star athlete, and runway model by the time she was 17 years old. In contrast, she was also an alcoholic, pothead, abused wife, and mother by the time she was 18 years of age. As a young adult she spent her life in a series of dysfunctional relationships, encounters with the law, and attempted suicide before she realized the happiness she searched for was within her. She found her way back to Christ and he centered her world.
WarningThis book is not for the squeamish! If you are not a person who is on a mission to learn and grow, then this book is not for you. For you judgmental folks who have already ascended into the heavens, there is no more for you to learn, this book is not for you. If you are a person who struggles to make your life better and you want to know if it is possible to find light through darkness then this book is for you.
When I began writing this book, I didn't know why I would write about the most personal and intricate details of my life and expose myself to the world in such a way. Then it dawned on me that this book; although it is about me it was greater than me. For if I have the ability to change one life in a positive way by telling my story than my personal sacrifice is worth all of the negativity that would come from exposing myself in such a way. Many will read this book and think, why would she tell that? When the truth is we all have a story, but how many are willing to sacrafice their privacy to possibly help someone else? Not many.Being led by God and I say this because the Charlene that I know would have taken this story to my grave. The mission of this book is to empower women young and old to prove to them that regardless of their past you can always change your future with the guidance of God, self-acceptance, knowing what you want for your life and accepting no less than that.
